Cosmetic dentistry

Cosmetic dentistry, the branch of dentistry that helps you get the best out of your smile.

This specialty of dentistry seeks to improve the appearance of teeth through various innovative treatments ranging from veneers to teeth whitening.

Cosmetic dentistry or Orofacial Harmonization comprises a set of therapeutic and aesthetic procedures aimed at aesthetically and functionally harmonizing the mouth and face. Now, through neuromodulation of the facial muscles we can offer our patients this more complete result.

Harmonizing consists of:

  • Revolumize the adipose tissue that has deflated, using different fillers such as hyaluronic acid, platelet-rich plasma and also with the patient’s own fat.
  • Relax the hyperactive muscles with botulinum toxin, to provide a solution to the upper and lower gummy smile and to the problems of bruxism and TMD (Temporomandibular Dysfunction).
  • Restore the skin surface: as a consequence of intrinsic and extrinsic aging, the skin is also affected.
  • Regenerate tissues, stimulating the formation of collagen and elastic fibers. Growth factors and stimulation are used.

“The mouth cannot be separated from the body, thus dentistry is not separated from medicine and thus function, esthetics and health are related.”

Hyaluronic Acid, a natural product worth knowing about

Hyaluronic acid is a substance that is found naturally in our body, the aesthetic benefits are many, prevents the loss of volume and premature wrinkles in our face keeping it with youthful appearance, also fills wrinkles already marked, among many other benefits.

Botox, an alternative for rejuvenation. Do you know it?

It is a toxin that achieves muscle paralysis avoiding very marked gesticulation which produces early wrinkles, this technique is very safe since it avoids surgery and its effect lasts from five to six months approximately. It is painless and besides being used aesthetically, it has innumerable medical benefits relieving neuralgia, bruxism and other discomforts, it should always be applied by a specialized person.

Bichectomy, a booming technique in the cosmetic surgery sector

The procedure consists of the removal, by means of a minor surgical intervention, of the so-called Bichat’s balls, fatty tissue glands located in the cheeks, just below the cheekbones, and completely separated from other tissues. These glands do not have any specific function in adults, but only add volume to the area, making the face rounder depending on their size and the shape of the person’s facial contour.

In infants these glands are larger, as it is thought that they may have some function related to lactation. Bichat ‘s balls are characteristic of the round and bulging face of the smallest children. As children grow older, fatty tissue gradually decreases, making their faces thinner. However, it is not reduced in the same way in all individuals, so that people with a more rounded profile and poorly defined cheekbones have larger Bichat balls than those with a more refined face.

When to undergo a Bichectomy?

Bichectomy is indicated for thin people, of either sex, who have a rounded and poorly defined appearance of the face, without this being due to possible obesity or overweight. Also for people who wish to have a more stylized and angular face, since, by removing the Bichat balls, it is possible to give a slimmer appearance to the face, as a result of the sinking of the cheek that accentuates more the cheekbones.

The surgery is of a minor nature, as it involves a few simple cuts made on the inner part of the cheeks, from which the Bichat balls are extracted. It is not a complicated procedure, lasts a short time, approximately 40 minutes, and does not require extensive aftercare, so you can return to your daily routine as soon as you leave the center.
